The Weak Spot

COVID 19 | Corona Virus
3/21/20

A friend of mine shared a post on Facebook which saddened me. In a time like this, we need leaders, friends, family … we need hope.  Often we do not get to decide what happens to us, but we do get to decide how we respond.

There are people calling this the China Virus. You will have to decide if you think that is appropriate or not.  It is not uncommon based on past practices to name viruses after the area/region in which they were found. However, I believe intention matters. How was it intended? Was it to be descriptive or destructive? Was it to help or hurt? There is a lot of bad with this virus … how fast it spreads, its impact to health both physically but also mentally on society, and what it has done to the economy to just name a few. It also seems to be showcasing another weak spot. It is demonstrating how some humans are morally weak, unaware or both. Has the heart become a vestigial organ as it relates to caring? Besides seeing hoarding of paper products, you are also seeing increased aggression towards fellow humans.

We can not go backwards … only forward.  WE now have a choice. I hope the good, compassionate, accepting, caring side of our population will use this as a reminder of how truly important it is to built strength where it matters. There is a constant stream of negative energy …fear, hoarding, economic down turns and the list goes on.  I am not suggesting to be naïve.

Before you react to the stressful environment that this virus has caused or really any time … please pause … decide to respond not react … they are very different.

Be kind, help, use your thoughts, words and actions to make this a better world… please

Imagine if the same amount of energy was focused on highlighting the good in the world.  Consider posting or reposting heart warming stories that you see. Let us spread some hope. Let us ALL show that the heart is more than just a pump.
